Ssssort of. My past life and Chuuya's past life share a lot of the same names - but past me wasn't the Dazai in his and past him wasn't the Chuuya I remember, if that makes sense. As far as I know, Recolle-Chuuya's past life was a relatively normal human.
I mean, a normal human with gravity powers, but not a dead person made of ink.
[The '...' symbol appears and disappears a lot of times. Togusa is really having to consider his response here, apparently. But, after all that indecision?]
I don't know. I think that's actually the furthest I've remembered so far, because it seems like they had just figured out who was responsible for Yuiko's death.
[and though he knows Zero was involved, he feels like there's still at least one other person lol there's still more]
Yeah. It'd be great if they could all get a second chance.
One way or another, I know you're not resting until you figure that whole mystery out. It's not even my head, and I'm dying to know.
I'll. I'll admit it. This is wishful thinking. I want it to be true. I really really hope I'm right. I know that means I might ignore counter-evidence. But damn it, just give me this one.
So the whole reason of this was to look into the first grouping of people on the app. I've got some names for you, if you really want to check them out.
“Something is going wrong with the changes lately. The cyberbrain was strange when I got it, but it functions just like it does in anything I remember.”
Togusa mentions strange and the cyberbrain and the way it feels. He remembers and she is reminded...of their Others and their communication on the job.
“Yes. It was always voices, I could hear everyone even when they weren’t all together, even when they were fighting. Fastest way to get orders around.”
“First time there were monsters in the city, I got a boost from Retrospec that was just like this.”
"Just me," Togusa laughs. "Other people figured out how to answer me if I talked to them first. The powers were randomized, I got really lucky on the draw."
"And yes, that would be my guess. Although Maurice is officially in charge of the physical items we're sent, I'd assume he has something to do with this, too. So him not doing his job in keeping things level or something?"
"That was a while ago, right? I think I remember that."
Thinking about trying to remember while all of this is happening is making her head hurt. After another dial-up and a breath that sounds like it's more for relief than calming, Mariko's voice returns with a faintly murderous edge.
"You read Zee's message, right? That all the rest of Retrospec got mind-wiped while we were all pushing outwards? So, if there has been any kind of stabilization that Retrospec has to do when we get items or changes from them, that hasn't been happening. Because Maurice literally doesn't remember how to do it."
"I would assume there is a little tinkering on Retrospec's part when we change. Because everybody might notice for a while, but then it fades away, like they think someone always had wings, or your eyes were always red."
"I get it, but I want to shoot someone for this and I want them to know why."
Petulant, sure - but it's all she can think of to cope. The arrival of the other changes are a mystery and she doesn't even know if she's aware of everything that's going to happen.
"Ugh. How long have you had this thing? It's exhausting."
"September 2017. It's still got a record of the moment it went live. Things that happened to me before that are recorded, but it's like it's in a different format. Everything past that? Perfect black box recording."
