I know this is hard to understand, but he could do it because he had a series of really tiny machines in his head. Like something from a science fiction story, have you ever heard of nanomachines? They were real for him.
So he could talk to other people who had the same augmentation.
I'm going to get the doctors to check if it's already happened to me. I don't think I'm afraid of it. But I don't know how I'll react if it turns out to be true.

I haven't. That sounds really surreal and scary. I definitely wouldn't want any machines of any size in my head.
