One thing that I didn't remember to tell you that I remembered.

I apparently was alive between 1883 and 1956.

But it doesn't match up with some other things I've remembered.

[Well, now that Togusa is more open to the idea that Koutarou's memories are actually him? Of course Koutarou would be more open to talking to him about it. The dates are odd, though.]

That matches up with the time frame of the gun. But- you know how long you lived?

Really? Yeah I do, somehow, and I, remember dying, of consumption. Uh, pulmonary tuberculosis.

Because there are more modern things in some memories, too.

[Togusa cringes on his end of the line. What a way to go. Another piece of evidence for his time frame, then.]

But, you remember? That drawing you did, once, with the words in the sky? Didn't it have tall buildings in it?

At least I was old.

Yeah, I remember. But according to Tsushima-kun, who seems to be from the same world or whatever as me, says that that was inside a book. And then I remembered sort of, going inside a book too, to look for a person "like us", whatever that means.

The infirmary that I remember had modern tools in it, though. Things that definitely didn't exist back then.

Tsushima. He was the other one who mentioned a weapon that turned into a book. I didn't want to jump to conclusions, but, you two have worked it out?

That's him, yes. He remembered using his before actually getting it, at least. Yeah, we have, I saw him in one, together with another person that he had remembered.

Yes, it was a pretty nice one, and not as old-fashioned as the ones from last century.

I don't even know what to call it, not only do you come from the same place, but you remember each other? Of all the people to come from a world...

How many times do you have memories from, then? This other Koutarou seems to have lived a long time.

It is a bit peculiar, but there are a lot of strange things about it. For example, there is a Nakahara Chuuya there, but one that doesn't look nor sound like my Chuuya at all.

Right now I don't know. It seems like the memories are all over the place.

Your cousin!?

Hunh. I mean, I have so many other questions, but. But, you don't think he's still your cousin in that world?

Yes. But no matter how I look at it, it wasn’t really him.

Has Chuuya, I guess, the Chuuya here, remembered you in what Retrospec has been showing him?

He hasn't, no. Not as far as he's said at least, and I think he would if he did.

Right. But, you think that you were around in an infirmary with technology that was clearly past 1956, as well?

And why would there be two Chuuyas? Has he talked to you about what he has remembered?

Exactly. It doesn't really make sense, does it? But that's how it was.

He has not, no. Not really. He remembered a doctor called Mori as well, though. A Mori different from the one I remembered. But I don't know if Mori and Mori have the same first name. Still, it doesn't make much sense, though maybe it just is coincidences.

Why would you and Chuuya be remembering things that are eerily similar, but also not the same? This is. Odd.

Keep writing it all down, keep a record of it, it's what I've started doing. Even if it makes no sense, maybe something'll come through at some point.

Yeah. If you write things down, but dont refer to the company by name. But, the things I remember, the things I know they’re responsible for, that much I’m trying to write down.

Do you have a lot of them?

Honestly? Don't know. But it's the next thing that we're trying to see if our case notes stay intact, or if they keep magically changing as soon as we stop looking at them.

I've been having a few dreams. I might understand it, how the other Togusa's power worked. You know how I said the talking to people with my mind was familiar? He could do it, but not like Retrospec got me to?

[ It takes a few minutes longer than usual for a reply to come. ]

I know this is hard to understand, but he could do it because he had a series of really tiny machines in his head. Like something from a science fiction story, have you ever heard of nanomachines? They were real for him.

So he could talk to other people who had the same augmentation.

Oh.

I haven't. That sounds really surreal and scary. I definitely wouldn't want any machines of any size in my head.

I'm going to get the doctors to check if it's already happened to me. I don't think I'm afraid of it. But I don't know how I'll react if it turns out to be true.

I guess that you’re braver than me then. Would the doctors be able to see it?
