THE LAUGHING MAN CASE:

Togusa used to have a partner, Yamaguchi, who died in a car accident.

Togusa and Yamaguchi worked together on the kidnapping case of a CEO, Ernest Serano.

His final conversation with Yamaguchi, that he was looking into something called 'The Laughing Man' case, and that Yamaguchi was on his way to see Togusa when he died.

The break in the investigation with Yamaguchi, where Togusa was looking through the photos that Yamaguchi had left Togusa when he died, and Togusa realized that the photos had to be taken through Interceptors.

Serano Genomics was the micromachine company involved with planting Interceptors in police officers (and isn't that last name familiar?)

A public event being held by Section 1’s Superintendent was attacked by 39 people, each one hacked to believe they were the true Laughing Man.

The Laughing Man Logo.

Togusa remembers interacting with a boy, but when he tries to remember his face, all he can see is the Laughing Man logo. (Surprise, this was Aoi the whole time, Togusa was hacked).

Togusa remembers the concept of a 'ghost' in the data sense, the part of the self that persists regardless of physical shell.

Togusa remembers the concept of the Stand Alone Complex: any phenomenon that exists independent of social proof of its existence.

Cyberbrain Sclerosis is a rare degenerative complication of the cyberization process where brain tissue progressively hardens in response to being injected with the micro-machines that make up a cyberbrain (much like the progression of Alzheimer's).

The preferred treatment for cyberbrain sclerosis is (drumroll please) more micromachines!

The Sunflower Society was an activist group dedicated to helping the victims of Cyberbrain Sclerosis and expose problems with the way the disease is being treated.

While Togusa was visiting the Sunflower Society, the building was attacked by DEA agents. Togusa was accidentally shot in the back while hiding behind a desk, resulting in the wounds he has had forever. He then had to shoot his way out to escape the building, eventually leaping out a window (because he is extra like that).

When Togusa made it to the hospital after being shot, the woman that looks like Mariko and Chief Aramaki were there. Togusa told them they needed to check his cyberbrain footage for the last three days.

While Togusa was in the hospital recovering from being shot, he was shown the binder of Murai Vaccine recipients.

There was an attack at a public event on the Superintendent of Japan’s Public Security Section 1 by 39 people. Each random member of the crowd had been simultaneously hacked, each one believing that they were The Laughing Man. Section 9 was able to diffuse the situation with zero casualties.
THE MAJOR:

The Major's face, specifically that she looks like Mariko Aramaki, but with purple hair and red eyes.

A conversation with the Major where she explains why she recruited him to Section 9.
CHIEF ARAMAKI:

Chief Daisuke Aramaki's name.

Togusa remembers the advice given to him by Daisuke Aramaki when he started at Section 9 (quote from Episode 26).

Chief Aramaki once got kidnapped, but Togusa was unable to help, because he was still recovering from his gunshot wound.

Aramaki giving Togusa permission to investigate Yamaguchi's death as a murder. (A second person was in the room when he received his orders, but Togusa does not remember who she is.
BATTOH/SECTION 9:

A memory of a stakeout in a police van with Battoh.

Battoh's name.

Togusa used to work with a man named Pazu. He was (probably) never a gangster. Really.

Togusa used to work with a man named Ishikawa, the information security specialist. He was likely ex-military.

Togusa used to work with a man named Bouma, the team's backup hacker, who had artificial eyes.

Togusa used to work with a man named Saito, the team's sniper, who had one artificial eye.

Leaving by boat on a rescue mission (Not Equal) with all of Section 9. (He will recognize everyone but Saito and Battoh.)

The first portion of the Marco Amoretti case, seeing the video of the latest victim, though to locating and saving her.

The end of the Marco Amoretti case, the chase through the sewers, and being unable to stop Battoh in time, but seeing Battoh stop himself from killing Amoretti.

The last piece of the Marcoh Amoretti case: Battoh (and subsequently, Section 9) had been specially picked to go after Amoretti because Battoh had found the man's handiwork in South America during World War 4, and the Americans who had sent the case to Section 9 were hoping Battoh would just kill Amoretti.

Helping an injured Battoh after he fought with someone (lol Kuze), most notably, that Battoh was bleeding clear/white blood.
TACHIKOMAS:

Tachikomas. (What they are, but not that he has worked with them, or the larger philosophical questions they raise about humanity.)

The squad of Tachikomas singing 'Akai Kutsu' (Red Shoes), a Japanese nursery rhyme, while they were being taken out of Section 9 for what they thought was a retrofit.

The Tachikomas beginning to individuate and gain sentience, raising the question of if their AI could develop ghosts. This was also the reason the Tachikomas were sent back to the lab, to try to prevent that from happening.

Togusa trying to play board games with a Tachikoma. The Tachikoma kept getting the rules mixed up.
OTHER CASES:

Togusa participated in a tactical raid on an entertainment house, where the workers were attacking the guests because their brains had been taken over by a hacker. (Episode 1: Section 9)

A suspect being arrested burning out his own cyberbrain rather than letting himself be questioned. (Episode 1: Section 9)

The fist-fight against a full-conversion cyborg in the hosital from the episode Portraitz.

Trying and failing to save a woman from a partially converted cyborg that was hurting her because Togusa shot only the man's limbs instead of taking the kill shot.

Being questioned behind bars about committing aggravated assault on the above cyborg.

While defending himself in court from the assault case, Togusa tried to refuse to give testimony that would prove the case was a setup by a separate entity, so the Major actively hacked him and forced him to present it.

Section 9 opposed a man, Kazundo Goda, who was trying to mastermind the deaths of a lot of people to find the fittest to survive. (Season 2)

Having a standoff with a potential suicide bomber at gunpoint, but talking her down because Togusa had no intention of shooting her.
TECHNOLOGY/HISTORY:

Interceptors, a type of surveillance micro-machine that can be injected into a person and then remotely display all the person's visual data to an outside source.

The dummy barrier, a piece of tech that lets someone without network ports connect directly to a computer.

A type of companion android, known as Jeris, are common throughout Japan. (Android and I)

Accidentally eating cyborg food.

Part of the Japanese 'main' island of Honshu, including Tokyo, is submerged under the sea level in Togusa's time.

World War 3 is a thing that happened, at the beginning of the 21st Century.

World War 4 was ALSO a thing, centered on the Indochina Peninsula, but with conflicts occurring throughout Central and South America at the same time.
THE OTHER TOGUSA:

Togusa holding his newborn baby daughter.

The face of Togusa's wife.

Shooting the Mateba on the range, and firing far better than he knows he's capable of.

Togusa used to have a cybernetic augmentation that allowed him to access the Net through his mind.

Togusa used to be able to communicate sub-vocally over a network with the people he worked with.

Togusa killed himself in order to save his daughter from being kidnapped and being implanted with a cyberbrain. (Okay but not really but Togusa doesn't know he got saved at the last second yet.)

Togusa's Mateba Revolver

The copy of
Catcher in the Rye Togusa was using during the Laughing Man investigation.

A dummy barrier (allows for physical connections from cyberbrain to computer.)

External memory drive with helmet. (Allows for connection to screen so other people can see Togusa's memories, requires dummy barrier or network ports to get emotional content. Retrospec memories cannot be viewed.)

Section 9 riot gear armor with onboard thermoptic camo. (Camo is not full invisibility, user can be outlined through things such as rain or smoke.)

The list of Murai Vaccine recipients. About 300 pages of names and dates. (Note: a few of the names on the list are blurred out, most notably Chairman Hisaki Imakuruzu. Eventually possible to find out it is from the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. All dates occur after the year 2019.)

The anti-cyborg glove with the stun knuckles from Excavation.

Togusa's badge from Section 9.
