Well, I've got bad news and worse news, you can decide which is which. The handgun age limit is federal, so regardless of local laws, you're not allowed to own that gun. But I'm pretty sure I shouldn't waste my time confiscating it, because I throw that in an evidence locker, it is going to find its way back to you.

But it also means you can't register it, yourself.

You got anybody who can take a look at it, something that old, make sure it's still in fireable condition?

Of course not. I'm 16, who could I possibly take this to who wouldn't have me arrested and ruin my dad's career?

Okay, let me rephrase that. Since we can't arrest you, would you rather take it to me or Fynn or somebody else? Hell, I'd be able to take it to the range, pretend it's mine, if you want.

Okay, now that's a much better idea. I can lend it to you to check it out. Fynn is the officer who brought me in, right? I don't know if he even knows I have a gun.

What are you gonna do with it exactly?

He's a good guy. Turns into a completely different person when you're talking about guns, it's interesting to watch.

But if you're sure, I can look at it. I would just disassemble it, clean it if it needs it, barrel especially, and test out the components individually. Spring, action, and so forth. I'd be able to notice any problem before you tried to put a bullet through it.

If that's what you're doing, then I'm gonna watch. If Retrospec's gonna send me a gun, I should at least know how to strip and maintain it.

[ Plus, it kind of bugs him that he knows how to do it for the Walther, but not the M1911 that he actually owns. The process is probably similar enough, but he's not about to take a chance on "probably" when it comes to firearms. ]
