It’s something that has happened a few times. Retrospec’s basic operation seems to be restoring memories of other people to us. But, yes, sometimes we’ll fall out of sync, so to speak, and forget everything about Retospec. Hasn’t happened to me, but to others.
That's actually a good question. I haven't checked on people's memories from other places.
I had a senior officer who got dropped out of the loop a few times, he's still out now. I want to say the memory of the rest of his career, his childhood, should all still be intact. He wouldn't remember now, for example, all the reports I gave him on Retrospec's activities. Just doesn't notice it.
Yeah. That much, he's got. Still gives me orders, still gets into spats with Izunia. He just didn't think it was weird that there were monsters running around the city in August.
You weren't here for it? Noticed I hadn't seen your name before, figured you were new to the app.
It was like a portal, or something. Retrospec called it 'unreality.' They referred to it as a storm. Things came through, things disappeared. About a third of the users, even Retrospec staff, got pulled through to other places, and things from other places came here. Dragons, giant mechanical birds, things that shouldn't exist, it was all here and attacking people.
It's not that the other cops weren't reacting. They were there, saving people, defending the city, but they were all acting weird. Like it was all just an expected part of the job.
The monsters was August. We had an easy September, but then things got dangerous again in October. The fog, lots of people were getting attacked by anything you could think of coming out of it. Last two months has seen a lot of request for help training.
So if you're not from here, where'd you come from?
[He's not a fighter, but he's also used to being able to buy his way out of problems and this is mostly information that he's storing because he thinks maybe he can hire one or more of these people to protect him if he actually has to see real monsters. That said, he's got a very strong visual image of a monster-storm on an island and that's enough to freak him out a little.
So his response to the question is a little clipped even for him.]
But to go back to your original question, no, I don't think Retrospec is trying to kill us, despite all the danger. There's something else they want, but we haven't teased out the specifics of it yet.
If you've got questions on anything else, please, feel free to message me at any time. I've been doing my best to investigate things since the beginning, and sometimes, explaining what's happened to someone else helps me out.

Date: 2017-12-28 01:56 am (UTC)Dylan Walker, Hitori Togusa, nice to meet you.
On the contrary, Retrospec does whatever they can to keep us alive.

[That's the crux of his concerns.]

Somewhere I'd rather be right now.
