Ryuuzaki and Danno. Getting their whole timeline together has to be hard, but it's taking some kind of shape at this point, now? Isn't it? I was looking through some of the things you told me about him before.

Yeah, I'm starting to get an idea of why they went down the path they did.

Did anything pop out at you? It's one thing when I reflect on all of this, but it's nice to get an outside perspective.

His apartment, I keep on going back to that. There's two reasons that somebody would keep things so stark. Either he really had zero attachments. Which is scary as hell, was he that dedicated to vengeance that he couldn't think of anything else?

Or that it was some kind of an act. Acting like his position with the police was some kind of identity. So that he could keep the truths about himself close to his heart, protected where no one else could see them.

He's dedicated enough to his revenge that it was the catalyst behind him joining the police. But while he does have attachments, I'm not sure how strong those attachments are. Strong enough to punch out a more senior detective for slandering his colleagues, but stronger than his goal of revenge? Probably not.

So I'd say it's likely the second, because there is definitely a level of acting going on. He behaves very differently when he's with Danno than when he's with someone from the police. I've got more than one memory of someone commenting that they feel like he puts on a facade.

So it's almost like you've got to learn about two people. But there's some truth in both of them, isn't there?

I had a question, about the ornaments. But it wasn't the right time to ask it then.

I kind of wonder if the person he is when he's with Hibino and Bando and the other police is who he thinks he would have been.

[if the purpose of his life hadn't gotten derailed so early]

What he wishes he was. If there wasn't a need for vengeance. He's like us, getting these glimpses into another possibility of his life that he can't quite have.

Hell.

Do you think that what we saw was real? That we really stepped into those other worlds, and that Retrospec's plan is working, because they've been able to restore a little piece of it.

Not a big piece. Which is why we could only stay for so long. Keep us from running into the edge. And centered around physical locations that we'd seen in our memories. Remembering it.. really did bring it back into being.

Oddly enough, Danno tried to give it to him. Remember what I told you at the end of October, how Danno dissolved their partnership?

[ie the memory that threw Monster!Tatsuo for enough of a loop to drive him off]

Danno told him to go live with 'those people' near him.

[and pretty much the ONLY people around him were his police coworkers]

That is a a hell of a theory. It certainly all seems to line up... Or it could have been like on a sci-fi show, something akin to a hologram.

So that's what that was about.

Do you know if it worked?

I know my theory is odd, but, it's what Retrospec has said they can do the entire time. Maybe they wanted to prove to us that they could. It would mean so much. It would mean you've already restored Ryuuzaki's colleagues.

I don't know. I think that's actually the furthest I've remembered so far, because it seems like they had just figured out who was responsible for Yuiko's death.

[and though he knows Zero was involved, he feels like there's still at least one other person lol there's still more]

Yeah. It'd be great if they could all get a second chance.

One way or another, I know you're not resting until you figure that whole mystery out. It's not even my head, and I'm dying to know.

I'll. I'll admit it. This is wishful thinking. I want it to be true. I really really hope I'm right. I know that means I might ignore counter-evidence. But damn it, just give me this one.

I wouldn't say I'm not going to rest... but yeah. I really need to know how this all panned out.

[Did Ryuuzaki and Danno take their revenge? What happened between Ryuuzaki and Hibino? Why was Yuiko killed in the first place?]

It's not a bad thing to be hopeful.
